Tenants who are up to date with their rent will qualify for 2 weeks completely free of having to pay rent so you can focus on enjoying the festive period.

If you currently owe rent, these weeks offer you the opportunity to clear your arrears and start the New Year with a clear rent account so you can enjoy the benefits of future rent free weeks.

If you pay monthly by direct debit your account is due to be clear at year end so you do not need to change your direct debit amount as your monthly payments have been calculated to take account of the rent free weeks already.

The two rent free weeks fall on week commencing 19 December and 26 December.

Every year we offer our tenants the opportunity of 4 rent free weeks – March and December - meaning nobody is charged rent for these periods, if they are up to date on their rent account.

Rent is always charged on a Monday. However there are 4 weeks in the year when you don’t pay us rent. We call these “rent free weeks or non-collection weeks”.  This year these fall on the weeks commencing 19 December and 26 December 2016 and 20 March and 27 March 2017.

All tenants are charged rent over 48 weeks and if you pay your rent monthly and you are not on direct debit then your monthly payment will remain the same during December and March. This is because rent is charged for 48 weeks and divided into equal monthly payments, so that you pay the same amount each month.

If you pay monthly by direct debit your account is due to be clear at year end so you do not need to change your direct debit amount as your monthly payments have been calculated to take account of the “rent free weeks” already.

From Friday 23rd December until 3rd January our office will be closed if you need to make a rent payment during that time, please call the automated line on 0345 678 9009 or follow this link to make an online payment. http://www.starhousing.org.uk/pay-your-rent-and-service-charges/

If you are behind with your payments or you are reducing your arrears through a payment agreement or Court Order, you must continue to pay during our “rent free weeks”.
