This Rural Housing Week (7–11 July 2025), STAR Housing is proud to reaffirm its commitment to building stronger, greener, and more affordable rural communities across Shropshire by celebrating key milestones and launching new initiatives that directly benefit rural customers.
Building More New Homes
STAR Housing, completed 57 new homes in 2024-25 through successful partnership working with the local community and Shropshire Council. Homes included supported living accommodation and are designed to reduce carbon emissions.
£20 Million Retrofit Programme
Thanks to a successful bid to the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund, STAR Housing is upgrading 1,300 homes with energy-efficient improvements. To complement a 9.4 million grant from the Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund Wave 3, STAR Housing and Shropshire Council are investing over £11 million of additional funds. Improvements include:
These upgrades will reduce energy bills and carbon emissions, helping tenants live more comfortably and sustainably.
Community Support Drop-Ins
STAR Housing runs weekly drop-in sessions across Shropshire, offering advice on housing, budgeting, and tenancy support. These sessions are open to all and provide a vital link between STAR Housing and the communities it serves.
