The 2023 Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing (STAR Housing) Customer Awards was a fantastic event that celebrated our ten-year milestone and gave a big shout-out to our incredible neighbours. These ten wonderful individuals have gone above and beyond to show kindness and support within their community, and we couldn't be more grateful for their contributions.

We gathered on Thursday 13th July at the beautiful Albright Hussey Manor Hotel to honour our extraordinary neighbours. The day kicked off with a lovely afternoon tea followed by an awards ceremony. The winners were warmly applauded by their guests, including STAR Housing staff, Board Members, and representatives from Shropshire Council.

The event highlighted the importance of building a strong sense of community, and these outstanding neighbours have truly made a difference. From lending a helping hand with day-to-day tasks to being a compassionate friend in times of need, their contributions have shaped our communities in remarkable ways.

Each of the ten neighbours recognised at the STAR Housing Customer Awards 2023 have shown exceptional acts of kindness and support. From looking after sick neighbours to organising community events, their dedication to helping others has left a lasting impact on the lives around them. We are proud to have such phenomenal neighbours as part of our communities, and we are excited to continue fostering strong bonds in Shropshire.

Mark Jones, Vice Chair of the Board, expressed his heartfelt gratitude towards these extraordinary neighbours, saying: "It is with great pleasure that we recognise the exceptional individuals who embody the true spirit of community. Their kindness and dedication to helping others have made a significant impact on the lives of those around them. We are proud to have them as part of the STAR Housing family."

Dean Carroll, Shropshire Council cabinet member for growth, regeneration, and housing, also added his praise: "The ten amazing neighbours demonstrate the power of a strong community bond and the importance of acknowledging those who go above and beyond to make a positive difference.
