Cherry Blossom Way Development Opening

Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing (STAR) is pleased to announce the opening of Cherry Blossom Way, a residential development situated adjacent to Greenacres Primary School in Rutland, Shrewsbury. The recent opening showcased the completion of 12 new affordable family homes for both affordable rent and shared ownership tenures.

The 4 Shared Ownership properties consist of 2 two-bedroom houses and 2 three-bedroom houses, while the 8 Affordable Rent properties include 1 two-bedroom disabled access bungalow, 5 two-bedroom houses, and 2 three-bedroom houses. This development aims to provide  comfortable, high quality and affordable homes for families in Shropshire.

The STAR Board, STAR employees and the developer, Harpers were all present for the opening of the site. Tony Deakin, Chair of STAR Board, expressed his delight at the completion of this project stating "This is a significant achievement for STAR Housing and one that we hope will be well-received by the local community. The new development will help address the housing shortage in the area and provide affordable housing solutions for the local community”.

Shropshire Council’s Portfolio Holder for Growth, Regeneration and Housing, Dean Carroll, stated that, "We are committed to helping people who are affected by the pressures on housing across Shropshire and I look forward to seeing people move into these new properties and enjoy a healthy home while adding to the community and economy of Shrewsbury.”

Among the attendees was Vanessa, one of the new tenants moving into her home on the day. She said, "I can't believe how nice the houses are, it's lovely and I didn't expect it to be so beautiful." Her comments only confirmed the success of this project, highlighting the quality and comfort that this development provides to individuals and families.

The Cherry Blossom Way housing development opening marked the beginning of a new and exciting phase for individuals and families seeking comfortable and affordable homes in Shrewsbury. It also represented the successful collaboration between various stakeholders and housing professionals to address the needs of local communities. Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing manages Shropshire Council's housing stock, and this development is a significant step towards extending that stock into the town of Shrewsbury for the first time. The completion of Cherry Blossom Way   provides new and affordable housing options for families in the area, helping to alleviate the ongoing housing crisis.
